Clocks- 4 (Four) Marine Lever: (1) E.N. Welch Manufacturing Co., Forestville, Conn., "Bismarck" Lever, 30 hour, time only, spring driven movement with lever escapement in a brass case, c1880; (2) E.N. Welch, Forestville, Conn., "Octagon Lever", 30 hour, time only, spring driven movement with lever escapement in a rosewood veneered case with painted metal dial, c1885; (3) Probably Welch, octagonal lever, 30 hour, time only, spring driven movement with lever escapement in a rosewood veneered case with painted metal dial, c1885; (4) S.E. Root, Bristol, Conn., marine lever, 30 hour, time only, spring driven movement in a turned walnut case with paper dial, c1875.
CONDITION:
(1) Brass case with dark patina. Painted metal dial is good with two small losses. The rear paper label is excellent. (2) A few losses to the wood veneer. Painted dial with many small scratches. Mostly complete rear label. Second hand has no dial ring associated with it. Hands are mismatched. (3) Some veneer loss. Painted dial is good. No label. Breguet style hands. (4) Solid turned wood case. Paper dial is scratched. Hands are mismatched. All four clocks tick to some degree when coaxed, but will probably need mechanical attention. Dimensions are for the Root (4). Sold "as is ".
